On January 28, 1993, minor Plaintiff Mayra Reyes, a 5-year-old student at Wilson Elementary School, left school grounds without an adult, some time during the lunch period. She was struck by an oncoming vehicle 6 blocks from the school. It was the school's policy that no kindergarten student was allowed to leave the school without a responsible adult. Santa Ana Unified School District was named as Defendant.
