On March 29, 1992, Plaintiff Christine D. Wong, a 54-year-old office worker, presented to Defendant Dr. Joseph Spaulding for complaints of ureteral calculus. Surgery was subsequently performed by Dr. Spaulding on June 12, 1992, at which time Wong's ureter avulsed from her bladder and was then surgically repaired.
