Facts
The plaintiff's adult son, acting as pilot or co-pilot of his company-owned light airplane, while on company business, was killed when his plane collided with another light airplane over the Newhall Pass on Feb. 7, 2000. The pilot of the other aircraft, Charles Oliver, was flying his own privately-owned airplane and had his friend along as a passenger. Oliver was employed by the defendant Petersen Aviation. The accident occurred on Oliver's day-off. Petersen Aviation did not own the airplane flown by Oliver.
