The United States of America and ex rel. Hai Ba Trung Inc. sued Vector Planning and Services Inc., Vinh Vo, Paragon Solutions and Technologies Inc., Space and C41 Associates LLC, and Enterprise Security & C41 Solutions Inc., alleging violations of the False Claims Act. Space and Enterprise Security were Vector's subsidiaries.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendants contracted with the U.S. Navy, which entitled them to bill the government for certain costs. Plaintiffs contended that defendants inflated claims for payment under several Navy contracts between 2005 through 2009, by padding certain costs billings with direct costs, which the government the government had already paid. Plaintiffs also contended that defendants submitted claims for other costs that were not incurred.
Result
Vector agreed to pay $6.5 million to settle the dispute.
