The three plaintiffs worked as hostlers at the Oakland yard of Southern Pacific Railroad from 1993-1998. The plaintiffs contended that they were subjected to a hostile work environment and harassed based on race and sex. The defendant contended that the plaintiffs were not subjected to any discriminatory adverse employment actions based on sex and race. The defendant also contended that the plaintiffs lacked sufficient, credible proof to meet the elements of a hostile work environment based on race and sex.

Settlement Discussions
