Facts
According to the plaintiff: On Nov. 5, 1998, in the late afternoon, plaintiff was driving her 1996 Saturn in a northbound lane on Adams Boulevard in Huntington Beach. The plaintiff came to the intersection of Adams and 17th Street and came to a complete stop in the left hand lane as required by a stop sign. She then proceeded to turn left onto 17th Street. At the same time defendant driver was driving in the eastbound lane of 17th Street. Defendant driver failed to stop at her stop sign and colided her Van into plaintiffÆs vehicle. The impact totalled the plaintiffÆs car and caused her airbag to deploy. The defendant driver leased her car from defendant leasing company. The plaintiff sued the defendant driver for negligence and the leasing company for negligence as the owner of the car.
Settlement Discussions
Shortly after being sued, the defendant leasing company offered their insurance policyÆs statutory limit of $15,000, which was accepted by plaintiff. Shortly thereafter, defendant driver settled with plaintiff for an additional $20,000.

Damages
The plaintiff suffered traumatic impingement syndrome in her right shoulder which required arthroscopic surgery. She also complained of cervical strain and a mild wrist sprain.
