The plaintiff, a security guard, worked for the defendant for six months. On March 12, 2002, he complained about racial discrimination to his supervisor. On March 26, 2002, he was terminated. The plaintiff contended that he was terminated in retaliation for his complaints of racial discrimination. In response, the defendant argued that the plaintiff was fired for missing a mandatory meeting scheduled on March 23, 2002. However, the plaintiff found an ex-employee who witnessed the plaintiff get permission to miss that meeting, and it was from the same supervisor who had fired him.

Settlement Discussions

The plaintiff made a C.C.P. Section 998 demand for $179,999. The defendant offered $2,500.

The plaintiff was awarded $208,465 in attorneys fees and $10,173 in costs.
