Plaintiffs George S. Louie is disabled and requires the use of a wheelchair. He and plaintiff Edward Kemper sued defendants California Judicial Council, El Dorado County, Alpine County, Calaveras County, Lassen County, Mendocino County, Modoc County, Placer County, San Mateo County, Solano County, and the courthouses in each county for violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Contentions

PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS:
Kemper and Louie contended that the sidewalks and other public areas were inaccessible to disabled persons.

Result

Kemper and Louie agreed to a settlement with El Dorado County totaling $125,000. The other defendants were previously dismissed.
