Facts

Plaintiff Kimberley Main filed a class action against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. for violating California Civil Code Section 1747.08 nu requesting and recording personal identification information, including personal ZIP codes of customers who purchased merchandise in a California Wal-Mart store using a credit card between Feb. 14 and Nov. 30, 2010.

Wal-Mart denied any wrongdoing and any liability whatsoever.

Result

Wal-Mart agreed to settle the matter by providing gift cards with a value of $10 to eligible class members, with the aggregate value of all gift cards not to exceed $2 million.
