In the early evening hours of December 16, 1993, Defendant was driving his motor vehicle on a street in Oceanside. Plaintiff mother, a 21-year-old student, was pushing her 2 minor children across the street in a stroller. The front right bumper and fender of Defendant's vehicle struck the stroller and the mother's left leg.

Injuries
Contusions and knee sprain with residual laxity of the ligaments; chip fracture of the left knee associated with avulsed posterior cruciate ligament; cerebral concussion with headache; sprain of the left knee with tear of the posterior cruciate ligament; adjustment reaction with nightmares for 6 weeks post accident were sustained by Plaintiff mother and she required a knee brace for a period of one month with ongoing residual complaints. The 2 minor Plaintiffs sustained severe bruises and abrasions requiring debridement and dressing, with resultant scarring to one child; speech deficiency claimed by 5-month-old-child.
