On November 9, 1990, Plaintiff Steve Karshner was a patron at Defendant Rock It Cafe. He became involved in a brief argument with another patron over the use of a pool table. The other patron left, only to return one-half hour later with 2 companions. After another brief conversation with Plaintiff, the assailant threw an ashtray and hit Plaintiff's face.
