Facts

The plaintiff, FTR International Inc., a general contractor, was hired by the defendant, The Regents University of California, to build a traffic management center at the Irvine Campus in return for which the Regents agreed to pay FTR the sum of $598,000. The construction was supposed to be completed within four months. The construction lasted nearly seven months. FTR incurred more costs because of the delays and sought to charge these costs to the Regents. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on breach of contract.

Settlement Discussions

The plaintiff made a C.C.P. º998 settlement demand for $300,000. The defendant made a C.C.P. º998 offer of compromise for $100,000.

Other Information

The verdict was reached approximately one year and eight months after the case was filed.
