Facts

On Jan. 29, 1997, the plaintiff, an employee with the Department of Navy slipped and fell in defendant's airplane hangar floor sustaining a torn labrum to the left shoulder and aggravation to pre-existing carpal tunnel syndrome to the left wrist.

Settlement Discussions

The case settled at the end of the fifth day trial. The plaintiff demanded $750,000 at the start of trial. The defendant offered $100,000.

During the shoulder surgery on Oct. 19, 1997, the anesthesiologist injured the radial nerve to plaintiff's right hand when inserting the IV. Plaintiff's expert, Dr. Arthur Harris testified that plaintiff would require a total shoulder replacement.
