Facts

Plaintiff, a 40-year-old secretary, worked for defendant Northrop for eleven years at which time she was laid off due to work force reduction. The plaintiff alleged her supervisor harassed her and subjected her to a hostile working environment. Plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on sexual harassment and retaliation theories of recovery.

Settlement Discussions

The plaintiff made a settlement demand of $550,000 withdrawn, and a C.C.P. º998 settlement demand for $750,000 which expired. The defendant offered $40,000 increased to $75,000, then made a C.C.P. º998 offer for $100,000, increased to $400,000, then $750,000 on the first day of trial.
