Facts

Plaintiff Heather Orosz, 32, was admitted to Valley Care Medical Center by defendant Dr. Michael Bleecker for induction of labor. After rupturing her membranes, defendant left the hospital. The plaintiff's labor progressed very rapidly and the defendant was paged nine minutes before the baby was delivered by the nurses. The defendant arrived at the hospital 28 minutes after the page and discovered the plaintiff was bleeding from uterine atony. Subsequent medical treatment was ineffective and a hysterectomy was performed. The plaintiff and her husband, George Orosz, sued defendant and Valley Care Medical Center for medical malpractice.

Injuries

The plaintiff sustained an abdominal scar and will be unable to have additional children. This was her third child, but her first and only child with George Orosz.

Result

Before trial, Valley Care Medical Center settled with plaintiffs for an undisclosed amount. After a 10-day trial, the jury found in favor of defendant Dr. Michael Bleecker.
