Facts

Plaintiff Karlyn Lotney lived for ten years in a rent-controlled apartment in San Francisco. Defendant Joane Fisher-Quane was plaintiff's landlord and lived in the unit above him. Plaintiff's apartment was allegedly unsanitary and uninhabitable. Defendant then allegedly evicted plaintiff so that defendant's elderly, sick relative could move into the apartment. Plaintiff moved out of the apartment.
