Facts

In August 1997, defendant made a U-turn or left turn across traffic and into a motorcycle on which plaintiff was a passenger. The plaintiff was catapulted over the front of the motorcycle and on top of defendant's vehicle and was knocked unconscious. The defendant fled the scene without stopping to help the injured plaintiff.

Injuries

The plaintiff suffered an injured right wrist, a scar on her right shin and a two inch scar on the right shoulder. The plaintiff broke several bones in her mouth, she lost four front teeth and damaged another tooth. After the accident, the plaintiff's lips had to be sewn back together and the skin on the nose was scraped off. Following the accident, the plaintiff could only eat soft food for one month and continues to wear a mouth plate where her top teeth used to be.
