Photographer Bernard Belair filed an infringement claim against Bratz dolls manufacturer, MGA Entertainment Inc. Belair claimed that Bratz infringed an advertisement he created for Steve Madden.

Damages

Belair sought millions of dollars from the Bratz sales.

Result

U.S. District Court Judge Shira Scheindlin found no copyright infringement and ruled that Belair "cannot monopolize the concept of an absurdly largeheaded, long limbed, attractive, fashionable woman.
