Sonia M. Sotomayor Learning Academies, within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) was a high school located in Glassell Park in the City of Los Angeles.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
LAUSD filed suit against the City, alleging chemicals from a nearby property owned by the Bureau of Sanitation contaminated the soil underneath the school.

Damages

LAUSD sought $4 million in damages for cleanup costs.

Result

The parties reached a settlement for $2.5 million.
