Facts

On Sept. 14, 1995, plaintiff Judi Rosner, a 53-year-old unemployed motion picture production coordinator, was a passenger in a Range Rover, which was rear-ended by a Cadillac, driven by defendant Elvira Padilla. The accident occurred on Venice Boulevard near Meade Plaza in Los Angeles. The plaintiff's vehicle sustained $850 in damage, and the defendant's vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 in property damage. The defendant admitted liability, but disputed the nature and extent of the plaintiff's injuries. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on a negligence theory of recovery.
