Facts

The plaintiff in this case, a 36-year-old nurse's aid, injured her back at work for which defendant prescribed corticosteroids on three separate occasions from July 1995 to December 1995. On Dec. 15, 1995, she suffered a hemorrhage resulting in a portion of her stomach being removed. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on a medical negligence theory of recovery.

Settlement Discussions

The plaintiff made a demand to settle for $100,000 which was only available before the defendant's deposition. The defendant refused the demand.

Damages

All medicals were paid by workers' compensation, and the plaintiff was employed only part time.

Injuries

The plaintiff suffered the removal of a portion of her stomach.

Other Information

The settlement was reached approximately one year and eight months after the case was filed.
