In January of 1991, Plaintiff Leroy Moore, a 35-year-old pipe fitter employed at the Mobil Refinery in Torrance, went to Defendant Johnny's Restaurant (owned by Defendant Alvin Lewis), located at Crenshaw and Adams in L.A. It was approximately 3:00 a.m., and Plaintiff went there with friends after being at a nightclub. Plaintiff was attacked by unknown assailants in the Defendant's parking lot. Although the Defendant restaurant had previously had a security guard, they had terminated the practice a year and a half before this incident.
