Facts
On May 16, 2000, at about 4:30 p.m., the plaintiff, a 47-year-old woman, was struck by an
automobile driven by the defendant while walking within a crosswalk across 85th Ave. in
Inglewood. The plaintiffÆs left leg was impacted and she was knocked to the ground noting the
acute onset of pain in her left knee, left hand and left shoulder. She was taken by ambulance to
the Daniel Freeman Hospital and evaluated and later received treatment for her injuries which
culminated in a arthroscopic surgery, in December 2000, to the left shoulder.
Settlement Discussions
The plaintiffÆs counsel demanded $100,000 policy limits. Shortly before the trial, the plaintiff increased her demand to $148,500. The defendant offered $25,000 at the mediation.

Injuries
The plaintiff suffered acute pain in her left knee, left hand and left shoulder for which she subsequently had surgery. She continued to have physical therapy for the left shoulder and left knee for about four months. The plaintiff continues to complain of headaches, left shoulder pain, lumbar pain and a constant pain in the left knee.
