The plaintiff, a 27-year-old Champs Sports store manager, was fired after seven years of
employment during which she earned promotions, accolades and awards. She had an
unblemished personnel jacket. Shortly after she requested time off to undergo genetic testing for
breast cancer, the plaintiff received three written warnings in one day. She was fired about two
months later. The plaintiff became re-employed three days after being fired, but the job paid
less.

Settlement Discussions

The plaintiff demanded $80,000 on Oct. 15, 2001. The defendant offered $30,000 on Oct. 15, 2001.
