A vehicle driven by defendant Bernard Friedman rear-ended a vehicle driven by plaintiff Edward Von Sonn. Von Sonn sued Friedman for vehicular negligence.

Von Sonn contended that Friedman's negligence caused the accident.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Von Sonn argued that the accident was caused by a dangerous lane change made by Von Sonn. Further, Von Sonn suffered from the complained of injuries prior to the accident and his symptoms did not change following the accident.

Von Sonn demanded $40,000 and Friedman offered $500.

Von Sonn sought $142,000 in damages, which included $22,000 in medical specials, $60,000 in future medical care, and $60,000 for pain and suffering.

Injuries

Von Sonn's claimed injuries included lower back, hip, knee, and neck injuries, and a pinched nerve in the lumbar spine, which caused pain in the plaintiff's lower extremities.

The jury found in favor of Friedman.
