John Mayer sued celebrity watch broker Robert Maron for selling him allegedly counterfeit Rolex watches.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiff accused Maron of selling him about $656,000 in counterfeit watches. Plaintiff asserted claims for rescission and restitution due to fraud, rescission and restitution due to mistake, breach of contract, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
Defendant denied ever selling the artist counterfeit watches.

Result

The parties ultimately reached a settlement with Mayer acknowledging Maron's expertise and confirmed that Maron never sold him a counterfeit watch. No money or property was exchanged as part of the settlement.
