Facts

Plaintiff James J. Braddock filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Angelina Jolie, GK Films, FilmDistrict, Scout Film, and Edin Sarkic, alleging that defendants had wrongfully created a derivative work based on his book, Slamanje Duse, in creating the movie, In the Land of Blood and Honey. Defendants filed a motion for judgment on the pleadings, arguing no infringement had occurred.

Result

U.S. District Judge Dolly M. Gee granted defendants' motion for judgment on the pleadings upon finding that the works were not substantially similar.
