Facts
The plaintiffs were all Federal Express (FedEx) couriers who claimed that their employer did not pay them wages they were owed. While two different suits were originally filed, the cases were joined in federal court in the Northern District for a class action.
The plaintiffs argued that FedEx violated California wage and hour law, primarily relating to breaks and unpaid wages.
FedEx denied liability, claiming that it had a policy to pay for all time worked and to provide all required breaks.
Result
The parties settled for $4 million.
