Facts

Plaintiff Nathan Hatle, a 24-year-old mechanic, was driving a vehicle with his wife, plaintiff Andrea Bogue-
Hatle. Nathan stopped in his lane to make a left turn when he was rear-ended by an SUV driven by defendant
Patricia Ann Wood.

Damages

The plaintiffs' vehicle, an Acura sedan, sustained $4,151 in damages.

Injuries

Nathan claimed soft-tissue injuries to his back and neck. Andrea claimed lower back pain and disc injuries in her lumbar spine, which would require future surgery. The defendant contended that Andrea's disc injuries were pre-existing and that she was not a surgical candidate. The defendant also contended that her disc injuries were inconsistent with a rear-end accident.

Result

The jury awarded $2,273 to Nathan and $1,769 to Andrea.
