On June 6, 1994, at 8:00 a.m., the plaintiff, Mikkol Stanley, a 29-year-old psychiatric technician and registered nurse, was operating her vehicle at the intersection of Meta and Ann Streets in Ventura. The vehicle operated by the defendant, Ted Bates, ran a stop sign, striking the right front of the plaintiff's vehicle. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Damage to the plaintiff's Toyota Corola was estimated at $2,579.87. Damage to the defendant's Honda Accord was estimated at $5,339.97. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on negligence theories of recovery.
