Facts
The plaintiff, Debra Levorse, a 38-year-old, was employed by the defendant State of California Department of Corrections ("CDC") for 14 years. She alleged that from 1990 to 1993 she was subjected to a hostile work environment because she was occasionally touched in an unwelcomed manner and called pet-names by three co-workers. An investigation by her defendant employer substantiated some, but not all, of her claims. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendants -- the State of California Department of Corrections, Soledad Correctional Facility and one of her alleged harassers -- based on sexual harassment, retaliation and intentional infliction of emotional distress theories of recovery.
Settlement Discussions
The plaintiff's settlement demand, if any, was not disclosed. Defendant CDC made a C.C.P. º998 offer of compromise for $7,500.
