Facts
On Feb. 5, 1998, the plaintiff, a 58-year-old maintenance mechanic, was called to check a noise from a roller on a conveyor system which automatically transported laundry from an industrial washing machine to a dryer. He was in the process of looking at the roller, when the conveyor, which had been in its "resting position" was inadvertently bumped, causing it to begin running and catching his gloved hand in the roller. The plaintiff was unable to extricate his hand and his entire arm was gradually sucked into the rollers.
