In June 1997, the plaintiffÆs decedent, age 57, was admitted to the hospital for kidney infection. She was
discharged and told to follow-up with defendant primary care physician.
According to the plaintiff, within the next 20 days, the decedent complained of 101 degree fever, pain in the
abdomen, flank and shortness of breath. In July, she had a urine sample with same white blood cells and
moderate bacteria.
She was readmitted in October 1997 with another kidney infection but became septic and died in December.
