Facts
Ivera Medical Corp. filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Excelsior Medical Corp. Ivera also sued Hospira Inc. and Catheter Connections Inc. The court consolidated the cases because they involved the same patents.
Contentions
PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Ivera claimed to own U.S. Patent Nos. 7,780,794; 7,985,302; and 8,206,514. The patents covered devices for decontaminating medical implements. Ivera contended that defendants' products infringed on its patents. Ivera filed a motion for summary judgment.
DEFENDANTS' CONTENTIONS:
Defendants denied Ivera's allegations, and asserted various affirmative defenses. In addition, each filed cross-motions for summary judgment for invalidity and non-infringement.
Result
The court granted defendant's motion for summary judgment on the issue of validity. It then invalidated Ivera's asserted claims for the disputed patents on obviousness ground.
