Facts

The defendants, a cattle company and its owner, leased land from the plaintiffs and obtained winter feed for their
cattle from the plaintiffs for one year. In exchange, the defendants paid $90,000 to the plaintiffs. Shortly
thereafter, the defendants claimed they no longer needed the winter pasture.
The plaintiffs, who leased their land on a yearly basis, did not lease their land to another cattle company that
year. The following season, the plaintiffs successfully leased the land.

Settlement Discussions

The plaintiffs made a C.C.P. Section 998 demand of $70,000. The defendants offered $20,000.

Other Information

The defendants paid the judgment in full.
