Facts

On Dec. 2, 1996, the plaintiffs were driving a black and white police vehicle northbound Lankershim Boulevard
in North Hollywood. The defendant driver, a telephone technician for defendant company was driving a
company van southbound Lankershim and turned left to enter a driveway. The plaintiffs were on route to a
burglary call without red lights or siren.

Injuries

The male officer sustained lumbar disc herniation at L4-5, abrasion to forehead, microdiscectomy and scar revision surgery. The female officer sustained internal derangement of right knee and torn ligament with surgery, herniated disc at C4-5 and C6 with two diskectomies, impingement of right shoulder with subacromial decompression surgery.
