Facts
A consumer class action was filed against LG Electronics USA Inc. over defective LG and Kenmore-branded French Door Refrigerators. The subject refrigerators failed to shut off the interior lights when the doors were closed. The complaint alleged that this defect caused overheating, food spoilage, melted plastic, and fire.
Result
LG agreed to settle the lawsuit without admitting any wrongdoing. Class members may receive 100 percent cash reimbursement for parts and labor to fix the defect and an extension of the manufacturer's limited warranty in relation to the defect.
