Facts

California Rural Legal Assistance and Talamantes Villegas Carrera LLP and filed a lawsuit on behalf of 31 migratory farmworkers who worked pruning and tying grapevines for H&R Gunlund Ranches Inc., an almond and grape grower located in Fresno. An additional 51 farmworkers opted-in and with the original plaintiffs formed the 82 member Fair Labor Standards Act settlement class.

Contentions

PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS:
Plaintiffs alleged that defendant failed to pay proper minimum wage and overtime pay, did not provide appropriate rest and meal periods and committed other employment-related unlawful business practices.

Result

Defendant agreed to pay $915,000 in settlement of this matter.
