Facts

The Clorox Co. manufactured 3-liter bottles of Anti-Allergen and Cold-Water Bleach sold to consumers throughout California.

Contentions

PLAINTIFF'S CONTENTIONS:
Alameda, Marin, Monterey, Napa and Sonoma Counties filed a consumer protection suit against Clorox, contending the company deceived and misled consumers in violation of California's Fair Packaging and Labeling Act. They alleged that the bottles of bleach, which were sold in the same bottles as Clorox Regular Bleach, were filled to only 80 percent capacity in violation of Business and Professions Code section 12606.

DEFENDANT' CONTENTIONS:
Clorox denied the allegations.

Result

The parties reached a settlement of $199,654.
