In 1968, decedent Phillip Hochstrasser, a 76-year-old insulator, worked at defendant Exxon's refinery. The plaintiffs claimed that the decedent was exposed to asbestos at the defendant's premises, and that this exposure caused his mesothelioma. The plaintiffs, the decedent's wife and adult children, brought this wrongful death action against the defendants based on negligence theories of recovery.
