Facts

The case centered on the 1950s television series "Your Show of Shows." The lead defendant was Sid Caesar. a pre-eminent pioneer in television history. The plaintiffs contended they were the heirs of Sonia Liebman, the deceased spouse and heir of Max Liebman, a producer of the Your Show of Shows series. The plaintiffs maintained that they were the copyright owners of Your Show of Shows. In addition to suing for copyright infringement, the plaintiffs sued for fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract and other causes of action.

Result

The case was dismissed on the defendant's motion to dismiss per Rule 12(b)(1) and 12 (b) (6); the court stating that "plaintiffs' claim for copyright infringement is . . . barred by the statute of limitations," and dismissing plaintiffs' state law causes of action, without prejudice.
