Scot Graham v. Ramon C. Cortines
Published: Mar. 2, 2013 | Result Date: Feb. 15, 2013 | Filing Date: Jan. 1, 1900 |Case number: BC488823 Bench Decision – Dismissal
Facts
Real estate manager Scot Graham filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against former Los Angeles Schools Superintendent Ramon Cortines. Graham claimed that Cortines took him to his vacation home and had inappropriate sexual relationships. Graham then claimed extreme trauma to his superiors.
Cortines admitted to having a sexual relationship with Graham, but claimed it was consensual. He also denied harassing Graham.
Although the claim was tentatively settled last May, that agreement later fell apart when the deal was announced before Graham signed the papers. Graham argued that the resulting publicity led to more harm and demanded additional compensation.
Result
The Court dismissed Graham's suit, ruling that Graham failed to file the case within the time limit allowed for sexual harassment suits.
