On Sept. 29, 1998, the plaintiff, a 70-year-old engineer, was walking to work. He was crossing Yale Street in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle driven by the defendant. The plaintiff brought this action against the plaintiff based on negligence.

Settlement Discussions

On July 12, 1999, the plaintiff made a settlement demand for $100,000. The defendant made no settlement offers, but later accepted the plaintiff's demand.
