Beverly Stevens was driving when Laura Gaytan broadsided her in an intersection. Stevens sued Gaytan, alleging that she was negligent in the operation of her vehicle.

Stevens argued that she entered the intersection on a green light, and that Gaytan ran a red light. As a result, Gaytan entered the intersection without warning and broadsided her vehicle, causing it to spin out of control and crash into a tree.

Gaytan claimed that she had a green light, and that it was Stevens who ran the red light.

Injuries

Stevens sustained a fracture to her left hip, multiple rib fractures, pleural effusion, and blunt-force trauma to her pelvis, left leg, chest, and abdomen. She underwent two surgeries on her hip.

The parties settled for $400,000.
