William Ramsey and 27 other City of Los Angeles employees sued the city in connection with their employment.

Contentions

PLAINTIFFS' CONTENTIONS:
Each plaintiff performed the dual function of firefighter/paramedic for the city. They contended that the city failed to pay them sufficient overtime wages for the time period when they were assigned to staff an ambulance with a single function paramedic.

DEFENDANT'S CONTENTIONS:
The city denied plaintiffs' allegations, and asserted various affirmative defenses.

Result

The parties agreed to settle the dispute for $220,096 in total. Each named plaintiff will receive a portion of the total settlement amount.
