Facts
On Sep. 3, 2001, Dennis Richardson, 24, attended a free concert at a parking lot in Hollywood. Overcrowding and a riot led to the cancellation of the show and the dispatch of police officers to the area. Richardson was eventually arrested for allegedly hurling a bottle at police officers, running from the police, and then fighting with his arresting officers. The underlying criminal charges of battery and resisting arrest were ultimately dismissed.
Damages
Richardson claimed economic damages of about $5,000.
Injuries
Richardson claimed that he sustained bruises, abrasions, and soft-tissue injuries to his back, legs and shoulders, and that he suffered psychological injuries as a result of his arrest.
