Facts
On July 3, 1991, Mr. Emmett Kirchner, a 67-year-old retiree, underwent a total hip replacement by Defendants. The prosthesis dislocated on July 21, Defendant Neblett was unable to reduce the dislocation, and the patient was taken to surgery for an open reduction and revision of the acetabular component on July 22, 1991. During this procedure, he arrested on the operating table and died. The cause of death was pulmonary emboli. Plaintiff was Delores Kirchner, the decedent's widow.
