On Oct. 22, 1992, plaintiff Jerry Lee Gray, Jr., a 26-year-old auditor, was driving a vehicle northbound on Avondale Way in Redmond, Wash. The plaintiff claimed the defendant driver made a U-turn from the shoulder of the road, and struck the plaintiff's vehicle, driving it across oncoming traffic and into a power pole. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant driver and his employer based on a negligence theory of recovery.
