On Aug. 4, 1993, plaintiff Scott Valentino, a 31-year-old law book salesman, opened the rear door on the driver's side of a vehicle parked on the street. He was removing his suit coat when he was hit on his left wrist by the side view mirror of a vehicle operated by defendant Caramarz Janidzad. The plaintiff brought this action against the defendant based on a negligence theory of recovery.
