Plaintiffs Linda Andrade and Liliana Avila were both employees at defendant P.F. Chang's Bistro Inc. Andrade worked for the restaurant in Carlsbad, and Avila worked for the restaurant in La Jolla.
Shortly after Andrade and Avila filed their civil action, P.F. Chang's moved to compel arbitration. P.F. Chang's motion was granted, and the case proceeded to arbitration. Both Andrade and Avila worked in the kitchens of their respective P.F. Chang's restaurants.
Defendant Angel Mendoza was Andrade and Avila's supervisor.
Result
The arbitrator found for the plaintiffs. Avila was awarded $456,240, and Andrade was awarded $474,960, for a total award of $931,200.
